This well established company has grown and has a team of highly skilled IT professionals to offer the best advice and expertise, with an first class reputation in their market place. They have a role for an exciting opportunity for a further 2nd Line Support Engineer to join their friendly team based in their offices in central Edinburgh. The successful candidate will offer remote and on-site support to clients for their IT systems.

Key Responsibilities to include:-

  • - Remote and on-site support to 2nd line level

  • - Clearing the support board and ensuring it is up to date

  • - Liaising with clients and updating them on the progress of their support ticket

  • - Ensuring backups are functional and effective

  • - Maintenance of systems and ensuring updates to programs are current

  • - Checking error logs and rectifying any issues

  • - Responsible for logging time spent at customer sites for invoicing purposes

  • - Working with the following programs: -

  • - Microsoft desktop operating systems Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8

  • - Microsoft Server operating systems Server 2003 / 2010 / 2012

  • - Microsoft SBS 2003 / 2008 / 2011

  • - Microsoft Exchange 2003 / 2007 / 2012

  • - Active Directory

  • - Mac OSX operating systems

  • - Setting up Internet connectivity and firewalls/routers

  • - Installing new equipment on site, including desktops, printers and Wi-Fi solutions

  • Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the role:

  • - Experienced IT Professional

  • - Fanatical about Customer Service

  • - Keen interest in IT

  • - Microsoft product & system knowledge and experience is essential

  • - Driving license is essential and own transport preferred

  • - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • - Positive attitude and able to work on own initiative

  • - IT related qualifications are advantageous

  • - Experience/knowledge of Apple products and systems would be advantageous

  • Salary will be dependent upon experience and technical ability.

    Ideally, this would suit a seasoned 1st/2nd Line Support person with 2 years or more solid experience looking to prove themselves in a demanding role that offers excellent advancement opportunities.
